Bioblitz day!

Biolitz day!

On Saturday 9th July we’re running a Bioblitz in the garden as part of our summer programme.

A Bioblitz is an intense period of biological surveying of a greenspace to work out what’s there (see for more info).

So next Saturday, we’ll be trying to identify as many different species of plants, birds, bugs and beasties as we can over the course of the morning, giving participants the chance to be wildlife explorers in our backyard.

The results from the day will then be submitted our findings to national recording databases to feed into scientific monitoring of wildlife.

The day starts at 9.30am and finishes at 1.30pm – we’ll have drop-in interactivies activities throughout the morning for both children and adults, including bird spotting, nature inpired arts and crafts and bug hunts.

Snacks for kids will be provided and our cafe is open for cakes and hot drinks until 12.

See you there!

Garden drop-ins at NEA

Every Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning, we have a relaxed gardening session here in the garden. It’s open to anyone over 16 (and children are welcome if accompanied by adults) and usually focuses on growing fruit and vegetables (although there are always tasks for people who love hard digging!)

The weather’s been dreich this week, so here’s what the garden looks like the glorious sun of last month.

Garden drop-ins are Tuesday 2-5 and Friday 10-12.
