Our first spring flowers have sprung. A wee patch of daffies, what a wonder!
Natalie, the artist for the garden, has been busy getting the insect boxes ready for our workshops next week. The finished boxes will be placed in one of our drystone walls in the new garden, ready to attract lots of lovely caterpillars, delightful slaters and other beneficial beasties:

Does anyone recognise these?
These slabs came from the old Craigroyston High School, salvaged before the building was demolished.
And now being reused in the garden at North Edinburgh Arts as the base for our new shed:
Also new in the garden this week is the start of our spiral maze around our spiral seat:
Things are starting to take shape, it’s looking great out there!
The latest installation in the garden is a drystone spiral and seat, which will be the centre of our spiral maze area.
Here’s expert Richard Love at work:
And some great pics taken by NEA’s Creative Intern, Katie Fulton, of the stones and Richard’s work so far.
Richard will be working with people and groups to build two more drystone walls in the garden which will be a great opportunity to learn a bit about how to do drystone walling. No experience necessary – just enthusiasm!
Workshops will take place in the first week of March- dates and times to be confirmed.
Contact Valla if you’d like to get involved: email@example.com, 0131 315 2151 or drop into North Edinburgh Arts Centre.
Tomorrow’s People have been helping us paint the garden wall a lovely browny-red recently. The wall has been halfway painted but we’d like to get it finished soon (before we start our planting in March).
So this is a call out for anyone who would like to get involved in some painting – get in touch! Wednesdays and Thursdays are our work days at the moment, but if those aren’t suitable, get in touch anyway.
You can contact Valla on firstname.lastname@example.org or on 0131 315 2151. Or drop into the Arts Centre in person.
